OVERVIEW
★ China relies more on imported bauxite than local bauxite
Chinese local bauxite supply becomes tight and the production technology on using imported bauxite becomes mature; imported bauxite brings lower cost in terms of energy consumption.
★ Increased freight offers more challenges on bauxite imports
Facing high freight, bauxite suppliers from Indonesia, Australia and Guinea take various measures to control cost. The market is in urgent need for a scientific and flexible bauxite pricing benchmark.
★ New features on Chinese new alumina projects
For the carbon emission peaking and neutrality policy as well as tight local bauxite supply, Chinese new alumina projects show new features.
★ Carbon-emission control targets in many cities offer new challenges on Chinese aluminum industry
From last year, many cities in China issued carbon-emission control targets, a new challenge and opportunity for Chinese aluminum industry. More and more aluminum smelters cut production.
