Alcoa (China) Investment visits Asian Metal

On 24th January, David Chen, project leader, and Shirley Su, market intelligence analyst, from Alcoa (China) Investment Company Ltd. visited Asian Metal, and discussed about the markets of magnesium, silicon metal, manganese, and aluminum with Daphne Zhang, Susan Yin, Frank Chen, Victor Hoo, Friday Gao and Grace Wang of Asian Metal.
Bruce Zhang, General Manager of Minor Metals Department, of Asian Metal, introduced the development of Asian Metal to the visitors. As a member of Asian Metal, Alcoa appreciated the up-to-date information and market analysis provided by Asian Metal.
Daphne Zhang, magnesium market analyst of Asian Metal, welcomed David Chen and Shirley Su. The three discussed about the current situation of magnesium industry. As a big purchaser in magnesium industry, Alcoa concerns about the market information very well, and they have good learning in the market trend and price state. Referring to the magnesium market, David confirmed that they make replenishments in long term contract. In addition, he pays great attention to suppliers with high reputation and good products quality. Regarding World Magnesium Forum, held by Asian Metal in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China on March 20-22nd, 2013, David said he would like to attend the forum to get more information about magnesium market.
Susan Yin, associate analyst of silicon products talked about the silicon metal market with the visitors and they three shared the opinions of the recent silicon metal market. For the orders of the first half of 2013 signed previously, they re-negotiated with suppliers about the prices after the cancellation of the export duty on Chinese silicon metal from January 1st 2013. Asian Metal will hold World Silicon Forum 2013 on May 23rd to 25th in Xiamen, Fujian, China, and David claimed that his colleagues in oversea offers and him will try to attend it.
As for the manganese market, David noticed that the price has increased since the beginning of this year. David told Asian Metal that they will pay more attention to the cost of raw materials in their later procurements. Therefore, he shared ideas about the supply of manganese ore, the prices of regional industrial electricity, as well as the market performance of manganese after the coming Spring Festival with Victor Hoo, senior analyst of manganese products, and Frank Chen, analyst of manganese products of Asian Metal.
Friday Gao, senior analyst and Grace Wang, analyst of aluminum market of Asian Metal, talked about the current aluminum fluoride and carbon market with David Chen and Shirley Su. They shared opinion on the serious overcapacity of aluminum fluoride market and the carbon anode market in Northwest China.
