The “2011 International Rare Earth Summit” organized by Asian Metal was held in Hangzhou on 16th-18th, May with more than 200 representatives both domestically and worldwide attending the meeting.

On 17th, May, the meeting was formally started, and the director of the international market research department of Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation of the Ministry of Commerce, Zhao Yumin firstly gave a profound analysis of the present situation and development of China’s rare earth industry about realizing the sustainable development issue for rare earth industry and its trade.

After that, Bai Lizhong, the vice president of Gansu Rare Earth new material limited-liability company, then made an emphasized analysis of the development features as well as the influences to the world of China’s rare earth industry based on its current situation and analysis issues. In addition, the vice president also proposed to readjust the products’ structures and take its resource advantages to ensure the sustainable and healthy development of the rare earth industry.

Considering the current sharp prices’ increases of rare earth raw materials, the section chief of the R&D department of Yantai Shougang Magnetic Material Co., Ltd, Cui Shengli gave a lecture about the advantages of the high-performance NdFeB permanent magnetic material based on the current situation with the analysis of the rare earth elements and their price change trends as well as the comparison between the low-oxygen and traditional processes of the sintered NdFeB permanent magnetic material.

On the other hand, president of Shanghai UMC Trading Company Ltd, Ichiro Nakamura Hajime, also gave an related analysis about the impacts on the Japanese rare earth application market generated by the earthquake. What’s more, he added that their rare earth demand would have a further increase during the post-disaster reconstruction.

In the afternoon, Li Ruijun, doctor of Natural Resource Economics of China, gave a lecture about the strategic storage research of China’s rare earth deposits. In addition, the doctor also made vivid explanation and analysis of the significance of rare earth resource as well as the national rare earth resources reserve situation, which won the deep resonance of the participants.
