Qin Terracotta Warriors — World Culture Heritage
Being located 1.5km east of Tomb of Emperor Qinshihuang, Qin Terracotta Warriors Museum was built on the formal address of the Qin Terracotta Warriors pits. The grand No.1 site exhibition hall and some auxiliary buildings were completed on the end of September, 1979, and the museum was opened to visitors home and abroad on October 1 of the same year.
Being based on the real life, the Terracotta Warriors were created with meticulous, lucid and lively artistic techniques, and the warriors had various dresses and expressions, so they were highly valued in art history.
As the first emperor in Chinese history, Qin Shi Huang had greatness of unifying China as well as guilt of burning books and burying scholar alive, which were endless debated by historians so far. The politic, economy, culture and military of Qin Shi Huang Period were gradually exposed to the world after villagers in Lintong Districts in Xi’an finding some incomplete warriors in various sizes when digging wells, in the year 1974.
As one of the most important contemporary archaeological discoveries, The Qin Terracotta Warrior Museum set the world on fire after its openness and was crowned as the eighth wonder of the world. Visitors marveled at its large-scale, powerful scene, high scientific and artistic level. The ancient city of Xi’an became one of the most important tourist cities in China after building the museum, and visitors home and abroad were attracted to come here by its reputation. Foreign leaders and distinguished guests all listed Qin Terracotta Warriors in schedule. Over 40M of visitor came to the museum so far including 4M of foreign visitors, about 100 of chief of other governments and over 250 of prime ministers. American presidents Regan and Clinton, France presidents Mitterrand and Chirac, British Queen Elisabeth II, Japanese prime minister Noboru Takeshita, Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew as well as the Secretary-General of the United Nations Mr. Gary.
