End of Forum
7th World Indium & Bismuth & Germanium Forum 2014 was successfully held in Changsha, China on May 15th to 17th. The forum was held by Asian Metal and sponsored by Yunnan Lincang Xinyuan Germanium Industry Co., Ltd. The main topics for the forum covered review, outlook, and new technologies about indium, bismuth and germanium. The forum was widely supported by participants in indium, bismuth and germanium industries and more than 100 representatives attended the forum.
The forum started at 9:00 am on May 16th. Mr. Tony Zhao, general manager of sales of Yunnan Lincang Xinyuan Germanium Industry Co., Ltd., gave a opening speech and announced that the forum began.
After that, Ms Tieyan Wang, Professor grade senior engineer and deputy general manager of General Research Institute of Non-ferrous Metals, gave a report with the theme as “Application of germane in solar battery”, comprehensively analyzing current global germane market and development trend in the future.
Mr Alex Wu, GM in European market of Hunan Jinwang Bismuth Industrial Co., Ltd. then made a report on “Bismuth Market Review and Forecast”, and introduced Hunan Jinwang Bismuth Industrial Co., Ltd. briefly.
After the coffee break, Mr Christophe Murez, Gm Large Area Coating of Umicore, made a brilliant presentation on “Indium Supply and Demand: A Changed Dynamic”, which incorporated with Umicore’s business scope, introduced the current demand and supply situation in the global indium market and made a outlook. Furthermore, he also introduced indium recycling technology and expected that ITO rotary technology is entrenched and will gradually play a disruptive role in the ITO recycling loop.
After that, Mr Christian Hell, Technical Director from Photonic Sense GmbH shared information on infrared market and the supply and demand situation for germanium with all the attendees. He also expressed the development of new IR Materials and introduced their advantages: broad IR wavelength range, good transmission, easy to fabricate, good workability and optical properties and cheap production (use of less or no Germanium preferred).
The conference continued at 2:00 pm on May 16th. Mr Guohong Yang, Vice President & General Manager of Products Department of the FANYA Metal Exchange answered the attendees’ questions on Fanya Model. He claimed that they will continue to develop much better ways of transactions ways and wider business scope.
After that, Mr Xiaoyi Wang, CEO of BeiJing Sanglin Lantian Auto-control Tech Co., Ltd., took the first CIGS thin-firm cells power station in China as an example, which located in Shilin, Yunnan province, and expressed the development of CIGS thin-film technology as “the expressed train to PV spring”.
After the coffee break, Johan Ramharter,Global General Manager Supply, Recycling and Optics Operations, reported on “Introduction to Umicore’s Electro-Optic Materials Business and refection on current global Ge demand”, including Umicore’s business unit on electro optic materials, decreasing consumption of GeO2 in the PET industry, decreasing consumption of Ge metal in optics and that “Fanya and Governmental stock piling has a significant impact on the demand over the last 12 months”.
After that, Shijun Wu, President of Guixi Grand Sanyuan Industry Group Co., Ltd. reported on the subject of “Transformation Time - The Opportunities & Challenges for Bismuth” by comprehensively analyzing China’s current bismuth development and thought that future bismuth market is optimistic with many challenges.
At last, Junxi Wang, Professor and deputy director of CAS Semiconductor Lighting Research and Development Center and CAS Semiconductor Institute, introduced LED industry development status and indium material application, with a conclusion that LED, with long-range development space, is sure to drive indium demand continuously.
The forum concluded with a heated discussion.
The appreciation dinner, which is sponsored by Yunnan Lincang Xinyuan Germanium Industry Co., Ltd., started at 6:00 pm on May 16th and Bin Chen, manager of this company, made a dinner speech. Both sides thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
